Markelle Fultz and Maryland’s DeMatha Catholic lost 82-66 to Oak Hill Academy (Va) in Wednesday’s Les Schwab Invitational championship game in Hillsboro, Ore.
However, the star guard who signed with Washington, won the tournament’s MVP trophy.
Fultz tallied 20 points on 7-for-20 shooting, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks in the title game. He had just one turnover in 32 minutes.
The 6-foot-4 senior averaged 20.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.7 blocks during the tourney.
Meanwhile, it was a win-win night for Garfield High’s Daejon Davis, who has verbally committed to UW.
