UW baseball stays alive by rallying to eliminate host Vanderbilt

Jack Meggs’ two-run homer to right-center in the eighth inning rallied Washington to a 9-8 win over Vanderbilt at the Nashville NCAA regional at Hawkins Field on Saturday night. The Huskies will play in another elimination game on Sunday night.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jack Meggs’ two-run homer to right-center in the eighth inning rallied Washington to a 9-8 win over Vanderbilt at the Nashville NCAA regional at Hawkins Field on Saturday night.

The third-seeded Huskies (33-22) trailed by one run before Meggs’ blast.

Top-seeded Vanderbilt (43-19) built an 8-2 lead after six innings, but Washington battled back and pulled to within one on Joey Morgan’s three-run homer in the seventh.
