On the NCAA tournament bubble after a forgettable finish to the regular season, the Washington baseball team earned a postseason bid on Monday morning and will head to Nashville, Tenn., for a regional tournament this week.
The Huskies (32-21, 17-13 Pac-12), the regional’s No. 3 seed, will play second-seeded UC Santa Barbara in their first game at noon PT Friday on ESPN3.
Host Vanderbilt, the 2014 College World Series champion and the CWS runner-up last year, is the regional host and top seed. Xavier is the regional’s No. 4 seed.
The Huskies had a chance to claim the Pac-12 championship over the weekend, but they lost two of three at Utah, including a 21-7 defeat in Sunday’s regular-season finale.
