LOS ANGELES — Urban Meyer says his defense will be ready for whatever trick plays Washington might throw out in the Rose Bowl.
Chris Petersen? He’s just ready to stop talking about trick plays.
In a joint news conference on Monday morning in downtown Los Angeles, Meyer opened by remarking about his admiration for Petersen, and shared a story about the night he watched Petersen’s Boise State team upset Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
“I was trying to get some sleep, and that’s when they did the hook-and-ladder and the statue,” Meyer said. “Shelley punched me in the side and said: ‘Why don’t you be creative like Chris and run plays like that?
