Here are some tips on visiting Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho. Once a timber and mining town, tourism is now a major force.
Coeur d’Alene is about 311 miles from Seattle, an easy drive all the way on Interstate 90. The town is a good place to stay on a Western road trip, or a destination in its own right.
Where to stay
The big player is the Coeur d’Alene Resort (cdaresort.com), an upscale, lakeside 338-room hotel with several restaurants, a spa, golf course (with floating green) and marina. Stay in the luxurious Lake Tower or the less expensive North Wing.
