Three UW women win heats in World Rowing Under-23 Championships

Washington rowers had a successful day across a number of events on the second day of the World Rowing Under-23 Championships on Thursday in Poznan, Poland, highlighted by wins by three different Huskies in women’s double-sculls heats, as well strong finishes in the men’s and women’s eights heats.

In heat one, Anna Thornton, fresh from a double-sculls win at the Henley Royal Regatta, raced to a first-place finish. In the second heat, it was Washington’s Valentina Iseppi, sculling for Italy, who got the win along with her teammate.

In the third heat, UW’s Sofia Asoumanaki and her Greek partner also picked up a win.
