Seattle launched its new emergency-alert service Saturday, which sends information to subscribers after disasters like earthquakes, floods or public violence, a Seattle news release says.
The free notification system, called AlertSeattle, is available to “anyone who lives, works, travels through or visits Seattle,” according to the release.
“These notifications will improve safety in our city and help inform city residents and visitors of potentially lifesaving actions they may need to take during emergency events.
