The NBA Los Angeles Lakers are taking a gamble on Robert Upshaw, the undrafted 7-foot center who played last season for the Washington Huskies.
Upshaw, 21, signed a two-year contract with the Lakers, with most of the money not guaranteed.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Upshaw will make $525,093 if he remains on an NBA roster during the 2015-16 season. Of that sum, $35,000 is guaranteed. Upshaw is scheduled to earn $874,636 during the 2016-17 season, with no guaranteed money.
Upshaw is among 18 players on the Lakers’ roster, and 12 have fully guaranteed contracts.
