The Washington men’s basketball team has made just 47 three-pointers while shooting 29.7 percent behind the arc in Pac-12 games, which ranks 11th in the conference in both categories. Considering the Huskies’ offensive futility on the perimeter, why doesn’t Dominic Green, one of the league’s most accurate marksmen, receive more playing time?
The 6-foot-6 junior forward is second in the Pac-12 shooting 53.8 percent on three-pointers (14 of 26) against league teams.
And yet, he’s a sixth man for the Huskies, averaging just 17.7 minutes.
“There’s no simple answer to why someone plays or how many minutes they play or substitutions or anything like that,” coach Mike Hopkins said recently.
