King salmon catches have been so good off the northern coast that state Fish and Wildlife has decided to knock down the daily catch limit from two to one king per day starting Friday (July 24).
The drop in the catch limit affects the ocean salmon fishery off La Push and Neah Bay, and the hope is to extend the summer season at both ports, which are both scheduled to remain open daily through Sept. 30.
The two-king daily limit has been in effect since the summer season began on June 13.
Through July 19, La Push anglers have caught 1,042 chinook, about 40 percent of the 2,600 catch guideline; and Neah Bay angler took home 5,553 chinook, about 66 percent of the 8,400 catch guideline.
