Friday evening was bittersweet as Washington’s football program saw three players go in the opening round of the 2024 NFL Round. Michael Penix Jr., not Rome Odunze, was the first Husky off the board when Atlanta made him a Falcon with the No. 8 overall pick. It didn’t take Odunze long to hear his name called next, going No. 9 to Chicago and joining ex-USC quarterback, 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, who went No. 1 overall. As if it wasn’t already a successful night for the historic 2023 team, Pittsburgh nabbed Troy Fautanu with the No. 20 pick.
