Washington coach Mike Hopkins appeared on ESPN 710 Seattle on Wednesday morning and retraced the steps from an exhibition outing in which the Huskies surrendered 15 three-pointers to a Division II team to Thursday’s 68-64 upset win over No. 25 Arizona State that places UW (16-6, 6-3 Pac-12) squarely on the NCAA tournament bubble.
Hopkins, a former Syracuse assistant, retold many of his favorite stories including the initial days after he was hired and the importance of quickly hiring a coaching staff, retaining most of the returning players and convincing Jaylen Nowell, a prominent four-star recruit at Garfield High, to re-commitment to the Huskies.
