A 32-year-old man drowned in Lake Washington after the Seafair hydroplane races on Sunday, authorities said.
Witnesses said he fell off a 20-foot pleasure boat and bobbed in the water, calling for help, according to Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore.
The emergency call went out at 7:12 p.m., and the victim’s body was found 1½ hours later about 150 yards offshore from Seward Park, in Andrews Bay, he said.
With help from a witness, police sent a robot that eventually located the man’s body, helping divers make a recovery, Moore said.
The water there is about 45 feet deep, and visibility was poor because of milfoil and a layer of silt on the lake bottom, Moore said.
