In a heartwarming return to his old stomping grounds, former Washington men's basketball coach Lorenzo Romar was greeted with a standing ovation from Huskies fans Saturday night.
Romar, now an assistant at Arizona, made his first appearance since he was fired in March after 15 seasons with the Huskies.
One of the most successful coaches in program history, Romar entered Alaska Airlines Arena in stride with his new team, the sellout crowd loudly chanting "ROMAR!" and applauding as he strolled to the visitor's bench.
After the starting lineups were announced, the video board displayed a short tribute with highlights of the many memorable moments during Romar's legendary tenure in Seattle.
