Longtime UW broadcaster Bob Rondeau honored by National Football Foundation

Bob Rondeau, who this fall will begin his 36th season as the play-by-play voice of Washington Huskies football, will be the 2016 recipient of the National Football Foundation’s Chris Schenkel Award, the NFF and College Hall of Fame announced Thursday.

The award recognizes individuals who have had distinguished careers broadcasting college football with direct ties to a specific university.

Rondeau will be honored Dec. 6 during the NFF awards dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Rondeau began broadcasting Husky games as an analyst in 1978 alongside play-by-play announcer Bruce King. Two years later, Rondeau took over as the play-by-play voice.
