CHICAGO — Organizers of Lollapalooza say they are reopening the music festival after the threat of a storm prompted them to evacuate attendees.
Organizers said Sunday afternoon in a news release they were shutting down the music festival Sunday afternoon for “a short period” and directed those in attendance to underground shelter sites along Michigan Avenue.
A second release said gates would reopen at 3:30 p.m. and the music would resume at 4 p.m.
The festival started Friday and ends Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service had issued severe thunderstorm warnings in areas west and north of the city, but the storms passed quickly.
