Lake Wenatchee will open for sockeye salmon fishing after all, after initially it was indirectly affected by state Fish and Wildlife’s drought closures.
Anglers can hit the lake located in Chelan County beginning one hour before official sunrise on Thursday (July 30).
“The lake was lumped in with the closures and was indirectly affected by the drought closures, but the sockeye headed this way managed to arrive in good shape,” said Travis Maitland, a state Fish and Wildlife biologist.
“The lake itself is fine and has good water temperatures, and the fish are just fine,” Maitland said.
