Kevin Chappell, who owns a home in Kirkland, and Troy Merritt share the lead entering Sunday’s final round of the Quicken Loans National, a PGA Tour event hosted by Tiger Woods. Woods, tied for fifth after two rounds, shot a 74 and was tied for 42nd.
GAINESVILLE, Va. – Troy Merritt shot a tournament-record, 10-under-par 61 early in Saturday’s third round of the Quicken Loans National — and the only player to catch him was Kevin Chappell, who owns a home in Kirkland.
Chappell had a 67 in the searing heat at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club to join Merritt at 14-under 199 after 54 holes.
