MaxPreps announced its 2016 softball All-American team on Friday. Kennedy Catholic High shortstop Maggie Gallagher received the first-team honor.
Washington state’s softball Player of the Year for Gatorade, Gallagher batted .714 this season with 17 home runs. The Lancers lost in the Class 3A West Central District tournament semifinals, finishing her senior season at 16-6.
Gallagher, who’s 5-foot-5, will play softball for the University of Washington this fall.
Abandoned as a newborn and left in a box along the side of a street in China and pushed around on the field by the boys on her Little League baseball team, Gallagher dug deep to stand out as one of Washington’s best prep softball players this season.
