Kelsey Plum has looked impressive during exhibition play while transitioning from shooting guard to point guard, committing one turnover in 52 minutes of play. The Huskies will need Plum to shine starting with their season opener on Saturday against Santa Clara.
Mike Neighbors estimates the Washington women’s basketball team attempted just 10 ill-advised shots during last week’s two lopsided exhibition wins against Division II lightweights.
“Last year, that number was 15-20 a game early in the year,” the fourth-year UW coach said. “I thought our attention to shot selection and shot quality was very good.”
As dress rehearsals go, the Huskies put in a pair of near-flawless performances while winning by 48 and 44 points.
