Kelsey Plum sets school record in Washington women’s victory over Stanford

Hit or miss, Mike Neighbors kept encouraging. And Kelsey Plum kept shooting … and shooting … and shooting.

Plum scored 29 points to become Washington’s all-time leading scorer and lead the fifth-seeded Huskies to a 73-65 upset of 11th-ranked Stanford in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 women’s basketball tournament Friday night at KeyArena.

En route to one of the biggest victories in program history, the Huskies (22-9) beat fourth-seeded Stanford (24-7) for just the second time since 2006 and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the first time since 2004.

The loss marks the earliest exit in the conference tournament for the Cardinal, who had won 11 of the 14 tournament titles coming into this week.
