OAKVILLE, Ontario – Jason Day birdied the final three holes to win the Canadian Open by one stroke over Bubba Watson on Sunday.
Day made a 20-foot putt on the par-5 18th hole for a 4-under-par 68 and a 17-under 271 total at Glen Abbey.
“This must feel like what Tiger (Woods) did for so many times, and it feels good,” Day, a 27-year-old Australian, said after his fourth PGA Tour victory.
Day earned $1.044 million. Watson (69) is ranked third in the world, six spots ahead of Day.
David Hearn (72), seeking to become the event’s first Canadian winner in 61 years, was third at 15 under.
