Kelley Lynch, who has committed to the University of Washington, was named Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year on Thursday.
Two-time Olympian Jennie Finch presented Lynch with the award. Lynch, from East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Ga., is the nation’s No. 1 softball recruit, according to Softball America.
The shortstop hit .436 with three home runs and 25 RBI. She also had a 17-0 record on the mound with a 0.27 ERA. She led her high school to a 32-2 record and a repeat state title. She also led her club team, the Georgia Impact, to a Premier Girls Fastpitch 18U national championship.
