As great as it was, it was just one catch, so Jonathan Smith wants to maintain some perspective and not make Quinten Pounds’ sensational 43-yard touchdown reception more than what it actually was.

The Washington offensive coordinator knows Husky fans and sportswriters are constantly searching for the next breakout star, which often results in prematurely anointing role players into stars with little justification.

But what a catch it was.

Pounds, a 5-foot-11, 177-pound redshirt sophomore, produced the biggest highlight of the game — and his career — in last week’s 37-10 win at Colorado when he outjumped two defenders and came down with the football in the end zone on a play that thrust him into the spotlight as well as the starting lineup for Saturday’s game at Oregon State.
