Toughness was the order of the day after the Dawgs’ weekend road trip to the Michigan schools, at least according to Coach Sprinkle, who instituted what he called “toughness practice” after the Michigan State loss. For a half, at least, it seemed to work against the defending national runner up Purdue, as tough defense and great ball movement stunned the Boilermakers and the Huskies took a 30-22 lead into the halftime break.
Then the Boilermakers woke up. In the second half, the Huskies were outscored 47-28 by the Boilermakers and gave up 8 turnovers of 17 total, as Purdue caught fire and took firm control of the game.
