Seattle's Nathan Hale High School named former University of Washington star and NBA All-Star Brandon Roy as its head boy's basketball coach on Friday.
The former Portland Trail Blazer will begin coaching in the Metro League during the 2016-17 season.
Roy, a Seattle native, attended Garfield High School and became one of Washington's best basketball recruits ever. He ranked 36th in the Class of 2002 -- higher than future NBA players Deron Williams, Andre Iguodala and J.J. Redick. But Roy spurned offers from highly regarded college basketball powerhouses for a short ride to the U-District to play for hometown Washington.
