Former Pasco officer convicted of lying during bomb probe

PASCO, Wash. — A former Pasco police sergeant has been convicted of lying to his colleagues during a 2013 investigation into bomb threats made against Columbia Basin College.

The Tri-City Herald reports a Franklin County District Court jury returned the guilty verdicts Friday against Zachary J. Fairley after a week-long trial.

He was convicted of obstructing a law enforcement officer and three counts of making a false or misleading statement to a public servant. The jury acquitted him on one count of patronizing a prostitute.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 26.

Fairley was fired from the department in 2014.
