It was at the University of Washington that Terry Johnson became Tank Johnson.
As an 18-year-old freshman in 2000, the season the Huskies won their last Rose Bowl, he was a talented but raw player who admitted he knew little about the nuances of football at the college level.
“But I could run fast and run over people, so the upperclassmen called me Tank,” he once said. The name stuck as he became a standout defensive tackle for UW, later playing seven seasons in the NFL.
Sixteen years later, he returns to the University of Washington to more fully complete a transformation back to Terry Johnson.
