Competing daily against Washington’s defense, Tony Rodriguez is learning, is no honeymoon.
His actual honeymoon can wait.
Rodriguez resumed his competition with K.J. Carta-Samuels for the Huskies’ No. 2 quarterback role on Monday — two days after marrying his high-school sweetheart, Mersedes, back home in Stockton, Calif.
The evening wedding at The Reserve at Spanos Park golf club was “beautiful,” Rodriguez said. UW receiver John Ross III was in his wedding party. On Sunday morning, they hopped on an early flight back to Seattle and reported for afternoon meetings at the UW football facility.
“Football’s my honeymoon right now,” Rodriguez said.
