Finally, after sizzling July, cooler temps forecast

After an unprecedented number of 90-plus-degree days, and the hottest month in the Seattle area’s history, Puget Sound residents are in for bit of relief.

High temperatures in the mid-70s, or barely reaching 80, are forecast at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport through the week. By Saturday, a chance of showers creeps into the forecast.

When August opened with a 92-degree day Saturday, it marked a record 12th time this year the temperature at Sea-Tac has reached the 90-degree plateau. The previous mark, nine days of 90 or higher, was set in 1958.

This wasn’t just the warmest July that Seattle has experienced, but the warmest month, period.
