If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if it is broken, make it into art.
Darcy Thompson of Artcycled Mosaics lives this premise. She upcycles broken china dishes into one-of-a-kind jewelry, including elegant necklaces, delicate earrings, bold cocktail rings and unique belt buckles. Because each piece is made from repurposed and vintage china, no two are the same.
Thompson first found inspiration in a box of jewelry she inherited from a great-aunt 10 years ago. A self-taught mosaic artisan, she uses cement grout to border her pieces, which lends an industrial edge and creates cool contrast.
