SAMMAMISH — It’s not often you see a fist-pump for a bogey on the way to a golf victory, but Washington Husky Corey Pereira delivered one Wednesday en route to winning the Sahalee Players Championship.
Pereira (pronounced “Purr-rare-ah”) had led the field in the elite men’s amateur event by six strokes after making birdies on four of the first seven holes in the final round of the 72-hole event.
He then bogeyed three of the next six holes. The slide included a two-stroke swing on No. 14 where Aussie Curtis Luck birdied with a 20-foot putt and Pereira bogeyed after landing in a fairway bunker.
