Bruce King, longtime KOMO-TV sports anchor, dies at age 83

Bruce King, the longtime sports anchor for KOMO-TV, has died at age 83, the station reported Wednesday.

King, who began his career in TV in 1960 in Eugene, Ore., became KOMO’s sports director in 1968. He made the move to New York in 1980, but returned to KOMO the next year and remained with the station until his retirement in 1999.

King was the play-by-play announcer for Husky football in 1978-79, and Bob Rondeau was his analyst. Rondeau took over play-by-play duties when King left for New York.

Colleagues commented on King in a story on KOMO’s website.
