Boeing money to fund Museum of Flight, promote education

At Seattle’s Museum of Flight Thursday morning, Boeing and the family of the late Bill Boeing Jr. announced a combined donation of $30 million to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education through programs at the museum and also to support the museum’s broader mission.

The company donation of $15 million will create the “Boeing Academy for STEM Learning” at the museum.

“This is an opportunity to invest in our children and in our region’s future economic health and growth,” said Ray Conner, chief executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

One goal is to double the number of students participating in the museum’s various on-site and outreach educational programs.
