There was one ranked-vs-ranked matchup in the Big Ten last weekend. Plus, there were a couple of close games that ended up as wins by ranked Big Ten teams.
Polls
The Big Ten now has 7 teams ranked in both the Coaches Poll and in the AP Poll. Indiana moved up into the top-25. One could argue that they haven’t played any decent teams yet, and still won’t after this weekend. But they still must play Nebraska, Michigan, and Ohio State-not to mention UW. Here are Big Ten teams in the polls (AP/Coaches):
- Ohio State (3/3)
- Oregon (6/6) Up 2 in the AP and 1 in the Coaches
- Penn State (7/7) Up 2 in the AP and 1 in the Coaches
- Michigan (10/10) Up 2 in both the AP and in the Coaches
- USC (11/15) up 2 in the AP and 1 in the Coaches
- Indiana (23/24) up 4 in the AP and 3 in the Coaches
- Illinois (24/25) down 5 in the AP and 4 in the Coaches
While Penn State did have a win over Illinois (which moved down), and Indiana moved up after their fifth win, most of the other moves up had more to down with other teams in the rankings moving down.
