Low numbers of chinook returning to the Snohomish river system has prompted state Fish and Wildlife to announce an emergency closure to the catch-and-keep chinook fishing in the Tulalip Bubble Fishery.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 31 until further notice, anglers who fish in the bubble fishery will need to release all chinook.
The boundary of the area covers an area west of Tulalip Bay, and within 2,000 feet of shore from the pilings at Old Bower’s Resort, to a fishing boundary marker approximately 1.4 miles northwest of Hermosa Point.
Chinook spawning collection at the Tulalip and Wallace River Hatcheries is needed to meet escapement goals.
