Abdomen strain will force Mariners’ Robinson Cano to miss some time

Manager Lloyd McClendon said Cano will need a couple days off but then should be able to be the Mariners’ designated hitter. He said Cano should resume playing second base in five or six days.

Robinson Cano has a Grade 1 abdomen strain and will miss at least a couple games, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said.

Cano felt the injury Monday while making a play at second base, and McClendon said it has gotten a little worse. Cano underwent an MRI exam Wednesday and didn’t play.

McClendon said Cano will need a couple days off but then should be able to be the Mariners’ designated hitter.
