30 Day Countdown, Day 7: Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year

A defensive back hasn’t won the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award since 2002 when former Ohio State safety Mike Doss shared the honor with former Penn State defensive end Michael Haynes. That is unless you count ex-Michigan star Jabrill Peppers, a listed linebacker who played all over the field.

Overall, only four defensive backs have ever captured the award. This means that despite the conference’s wealth at the position, a defensive lineman or linebacker is the safe pick.

Almost immediately, attention shifts to Michigan.

Candidates:

Michigan DL Mason Graham

Mason Graham has been the definition of reliable with the Wolverines.
