Last year in order to preview the Pac-12 conference I used a modified version of my transfer rankings to try to get a sense for the overall level of talent on each team. I decided to go through the same exercise this year now that the Huskies are in the Big Ten which means 50% more work. Yay!
For every Big Ten roster I took any player with a reasonable shot at playing time (an average of 86 per team) and applied my transfer formula for their background. Since that system wasn’t exactly built to deal with true freshmen, who you obviously can’t use college performance data for yet, I made a few modifications to lessen the penalty for having never seen the field.
