Five former Washington rowers earned trips to the Summer Olympics in this week’s qualifying, bringing to 13 the total number of Husky rowers presumed to be competing this August in Rio de Janeiro.
Coxswain Sam Ojserkis (UW class of 2012) and rowers Rob Munn (‘12), Hans Struzyna (‘11) and Sam Dommer (‘13) placed first in the U.S. men’s eight Tuesday at the Olympic Qualifying Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The Americans topped Poland, Italy and Australia in the eight, considered the top boat in men’s competitive rowing. Former UW assistant Luke McGee is the U.S. men’s national team eight coach.
