Why the Redskins should hope that Su’a Cravens returns in 2018

Right before the start of the 2017 season, Su’a Cravens left the Redskins. The second year man and first year safety had been projected as a starter for the team, but seemingly out of the blue, he told his teammates that he was going to retire. After spending a few weeks away from the team, the Redskins officially ended his season by putting him on one of the reserve lists.

Without Cravens, the back end of the Redskins defense hasn’t been quite as good as initially expected. While the unit has some strong pieces, they are missing a second playmaker at safety.
