Title: Passing Game Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach
Experience: 9 years
Bio: 2018 will be O’Connell’s second as a member of the Redskins’ coaching staff. His title will be expanded, however, as he goes from Quarterbacks Coach to Passing Game Coordinator (and Quarterbacks Coach). While the Redskins’ passing attack was solid a year ago, that aspect of the team will obviously have a tremendous amount of scrutiny in 2018, as the Redskins move on from Kirk Cousins and begin anew with Alex Smith. Before moving into coaching, O’Connell was a journeyman quarterback for five years in the NFL, being drafted by the Patriots but also playing for the Lions, Jets, Dolphins, and Chargers.
