The Redskins announced on Monday that they have released former Seahawk CB Tharold Simon, making room for college UDFA Tevin Homer to take his place. If he can stay healthy, Simon has shown that he can be more than a serviceable backup.
The Redskins signed Simon to a futures contract in January to add depth to a secondary that underperformed in 2016, allowing an average of 377.9 passing yards per game, the fifth-worst mark in the league.
At 6-foot-3, Simon possess the coveted height for a defensive back. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Seahawks, featuring heavily in the Seahawks playoff run as a sophomore (2014).
