Zema Williams, also known as Chief Zee and one of the most well-known Washington Redskins fans, died Tuesday. He was 75.
Williams served as an unofficial mascot and was known for carrying a toy tomahawk and dressing in Indian garb, complete with a headdress.
“The Washington Redskins will always appreciate Zema Williams’ unique passion and dedication to our football team and his fellow Washington Redskins’ fans,” the Redskins said in a statement.
Williams was popular among fans and players as several tweeted after hearing news of his death, including DeSean Jackson and Chris Baker.
