Last season, the Washington Redskins had a very difficult time getting their running game going. The team was in the bottom ten for rush offense on the season, averaging 79 yards per game, and their running backs generally did not look good. Alfred Morris looked washed up and like his leg strength was on the decline. Chris Thompson was good in space as a receiver but he was not built to run between the tackles.
Then, there was the performance of rookie running back Matt Jones. Jones, a third round pick out of Florida, was supposed to be the Redskins’ running back of the future but he did not look ready for the role during his rookie year.
