Washington defense catches breaks, but has standout performances as well

PHILADELPHIA -- Five observations on the Washington Redskins' defense after the 38-24 win against the Philadelphia Eagles:

  1. It’s not surprising that there was a blown coverage that nearly led to a touchdown for tight end Zach Ertz (quarterback Sam Bradford threw under duress thanks to a successful blitz by Will Compton). The surprise is that there haven’t been more. On the play, before the snap, defensive back DeAngelo Hall points to cornerback Quinton Dunbar and motions to Ertz, aligned wide to the left.
