The Washington Commanders has finally ended, and they were the second-worst team in the NFL this season. That dubious distinction also hands them the #2 overall pick in this year’s draft. That’s a great asset for the next administration to work with to rebuild the team, but it was also one more nail in Head Coach Ron Rivera’s coffin.
Rivera was hired on January 1, 2020 when the team was still named the Washington Redskins. Dan Snyder was getting negative publicity, and economic pressure from multiple fronts, and he need a respected figure to step in to take over the team, and take on all of those questions he was never going to answer.
