ASHBURN, Va. -- Sometimes the laws of physics just don’t give Chris Thompson much of a shot. Standing only 5-foot-8, he weighs just 195 pounds. And the guy charging at him might outweigh him by 50 pounds and stand six or seven inches taller.
Yet Thompson has a job: To slow that man. It’s his job -- and one he’s done quite well this season (and last). He might be small, but he actually uses his size to his advantage when slowing down blitzers to give quarterback Kirk Cousins an extra split second in the pocket.
