With Ryan Kerrigan coming off of a 13.5 sack season in 2014, the Washington Redskins knew they needed to add more pass rushers to keep attention off of him. So they used their second round draft pick in 2015 on Preston Smith.
They started Smith off slowly with Kerrigan and Trent Murphy opening the season as the starters at OLB. The Skins had also signed Junior Galette but just like this year, Galette suffered a torn Achilles before the season and that opened the door for Smith to play his way into an opportunity to shine.
