The Redskins make move in free agency: for a punter

Tress Way is getting competition for training camp.

The Washington Redskins signed punter Sam Irwin-Hill on Thursday.

Irwin-Hill, 27, was a member of the Dallas Cowboys last offseason, but was cut prior to the start of the season. He is originally from Australia and played college football at Arkansas.

Way has been with the Redskins since 2014. He signed a five-year, $7.5 million extension in 2016. He punted a career-high 83 times last year.
